Our full proposal
11 councils, representing more than three quarters of local authorities in the area, have backed this proposal which was submitted to government on 26 September 2025. Called ‘Close enough to be local, big enough to stay strong’ it sets out a vision for modern, sustainable local government that delivers better services, while staying rooted in local communities.
